The bentonite outcrops in all four walls and underlies a small portion of the floor, as shown on the logs on the next page. Recommendations would include either overexcavating the floor and replacing the bentonite material with properly compacted fill, or moving the building to another location. Drainage should be provided adjacent to the foundation and walls by installing perforated pipe and backfilled gravel. The thickness of the bentonite can be easily measured in the walls perpendicular to strike. The thickness is 10 feet.

Elevations on the left side of the map are elevations (in feet) on the top of the bentonite bed; elevations on the right side are for the bottom of the bentonite bed. In the logs showing the four cut walls, topography is shown as solid lines and the bentonite bed is shown with dashed lines. The bentonite outcrops in all four walls and underlies a small portion of the floor, as shown on the logs on the next page.
