Course Agenda

PREPARATORY COURSES for the ASBOG® EXAMS
The National (ASBOG®) Geology Licensing Exam is the only exam currently being administered in the states that have geology licensing by examination. Different states call their licensed geologists different names. These are defined as follows: LG is a Licensed Geologist, RG is a Registered Geologist, PG is a Professional Geologist. All of these designations imply geology licensing by grandfathering or by examination for all of the 29 states with registration by examination. These designations are not to be confused with the designations of FG for the Fundamentals of Geology exam and PG for the Practice of Geology exam which is how the two portions of the ASBOG® exam are described.

- The Review Course for the National (ASBOG®) Geology Licensing Exam covers the topics that are most strongly emphasized on the exam, including structural geology, map interpretation, hydrogeology, water quality, engineering geology, geomorphology, ethics, and field investigations. The course addresses both the FG and PG portions of the exam. We will review topics designed to focus your studying and provide tips that save time and boost your efficiency. You'll also be guided in strategies for exam taking and preparation, including references.

Included in the course price for the are the Geology Study Manual for the National (ASBOG®) Geology Licensing Exams and the Practice Quizzes book. Flash cards are not included in the course price but can be ordered. The REG REVIEW course was first modified for the March, 2000 exam to incorporate California's changeover to the ASBOG® exam format.

HYDROGEOLOGY (CHG) and ENGINEERING GEOLOGY (CEG) CERTIFICATION EXAMS:

 PASS RATES
"What is the pass rate of students in your courses?"
The answer to this question varies from exam to exam. Since we began teaching courses for the ASBOG® exam in March, 2000, our pass rate has ranged from 85% to 99% while the U.S. wide pass rate for the ASBOG® exam had ranged from 56 to 60% passing the FG and 61% to 71% passing the PG with an average of 62.4% passing for both the FG and PG exams combined. Since we began our course in 2000 geared specifically to the ASBOG® exam, our students have averaged 25% to 35% higher than the National pass rate and the U.S. wide pass rate has gone up steadily.
